Problem: The Pneumatic shear was an integral part of a high production processing line. Our customers entire product line utilized this machine. There were 15 machines in service at 3 plants running 24 hours 7 days a week. Each machine cycled up to 12 times per minute The average age of the machines was 10 years with each showing serious wear. An increase in business required the addition of another machine. The customer also wanted to rebuild and modernize the existing equipment. However there was major problems involved. There was no standard specifications or component and assembly drawings.
